The cats and the bench and the pic that wasn't

No Blue Lady progress. Because I needed to make a wedding present. Why anyone would want to get married in this day and age – especially to my ex – is a complete mystery to me (she said slightly bitterly), but I’m sure you all agree that a wedding calls for a present. And since we will also be spending part of Christmas with said ex and new wife, it needed to be a quick gift and a good one. So I took out my barge poles and some rope and started knitting a blanket.

I thought I’d take a Bench Monday pic of the blanket in progress, but that turned out to be quite a bit more cumbersome than expected. Behold the Bench Monday pic-taking experience

Sigh…

The other blanket you see there is for my lovely neighbour who helped me paint my house over the summer. Also a Christmas present. Also not in cross stitch. Still. I’m having a grand old time pottering around with my yarn and thread and needles and camera and cats and kid. Hope you are too!

Yours joyfully,
Annemarie.

Well, that is a surprise. I have tons more I'd like to say, but no idea how to put it into words in either Dutch or English. You still have my email if you want to connect?

Hugs to Pelle and the kitties. And save an extra warm, big hug for yourself.

OK, I about snorted my diet coke through my nose at this post. You're a better woman than I am (and I'm married & divorced and recoupled without benefit of marriage, so I know whereof I speak); I'd be thinking along the lines of ice tongs for a wedding gift (or something else suitably chilly and sharp), not something hand-made. Are you knitting it out of horsehair or fiberglass thread--you know--something nice and itchy?

Your adventures (antics) are so much fun to follow!

I love the picture sequence of what happens. Trust you to come up with this.

Good luck with the knitting!

Hehe, you got some great pics even if not what you intended! That's a very pretty blanket.

Cute cat photos aside.....well, I really have been abscent from blogland for a while!! I agree with Barbara (although a comment from me in Dutch would make about as much sense as anything I would have to say on "that subject" in English!) You are a fine woman indeed. You know we are looking for a Secretary of State here in the US if you have some spare time...........

Love the blanket! And the trials you went through for the photos would would happen at my house also. Nice to have something to smile about later though.

Lovely pictures, Annmarie. And what a lovely stitching companion. Not as pretty as my Yes Dear (said so that said cat will not get jealous, lol), but very pretty just the same. (She still has her claws, you see.) Hoping for a very happy holiday season to you all. (Including the ex and new wife. It IS the season of cheer, after all.)

This is a wonderful post (unfortunately, I'm not wonderful at commenting lately, so...)

I adore every single cat glimpse, and am green with envy over how handsome your ikea stool looks with that green wash on it. Mine is still, umn, raw. And never gets to do anything as fancy as being stood upon or play with cats. It just gets a tea towel runner spread atop and then holds tea. And, sometimes, the remote for the faux fire-in-a-box/quartz heater.

Making gifts? For such recipients? Are you a candidate for statehood? All looks lovely, however. :)

Wonderful to "see" you. Hope the New Year is proving a good one for you.
