A plethora of pumpkins

Thank you, thank you, thank you, all you fluffy-bunny blog readers, for welcoming me back to Blogland with such sweet words. And so many of them! You have no idea how much that means to me. It is no wonder that I couldn't wait to get back. Somehow I had the feeling I had a lot of friends out there and I really needed that friendship to make me feel a little better. I do feel better. I feel a whole lot better and you can all take a moment now to pat yourself on the back...

...there you go... and smile, because you have made a silly old girl very happy.

Enough with the weepy stuff. Onwards! I've tried to do a little blog reading, but I'm still waiting for my very own - legal - internet connection to arrive here in the form of a modem, or a router, or whatever you need to get connected. I don't speak digibese, sorry. The few blogs I have been able to visit were, as always, a joy to read and drool over. One of them, KarenV's (SO glad to see you back in Blogland, too!) got me thinking. Brave woman that she is, she made an entire list of her WIPs and made them public, too, informing us of her intention to actually work on them. I thought: that's what I should do too: just make it public. Come out of the closet, as it were. There must be some way to reduce the old WIP list? But hey, I believe I've found an even better way of getting rid of WIPs: just leave hearth and home and forget to take them with you! That way you can just enjoy heaps of guilt-free bouts of startitis. That's what I'm doing right now, in between growing pumpkins, stitching Neighbourhoods, raising a son and translating this year's Harlequin Christmas special: starting every gorgeous project under the sun. I just HAD to start this one:

Oh. My. Word. Kathy Barrick-Dieter is brilliant. This is Frederick. Isn't he gorgeous? Goodness knows, this one will never get finished, but I don't care. No progress pics, girls. When I say I've started, I mean I crossed two stitches.

I'm also awaiting this one:

Obviously, this new BBD Loose Feathers needs to be stitched as soon as it arrives.
And this one!

Ooh, I love it. It's from the June 2008 issue ofCross Country Stitchng magazine. I had never heard of a GAST thread called 'Cinders', but that's the colour used for this alphabet. Nice.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, behold...

My pumpkin patch.

I'm so thrilled! Even if this year's crop yields nothing but pea-sized pumpkins, or even just some flowers, or even if they don't grow any bigger than this, I don't care. I've had so much fun seeing all these tiny green planties emerge from the soil! Any more fun and I'm afraid I might not survive :o) You do understand that some sort of Halloweeny stitching is in order, you know, to really get in the mood. Hmm. Which witchy chart shall I choose? Heh heh heh... Any advice is welcome!

Again, thanks for visiting, for commenting, and for being there!

Until next time :o)

I love Frederick - he's been on my wishlist for a while and I plan on making him one of my first purchases (when I'm buying again, of course!)

Congratulations on the pumpkins - it all looks very green-fingered over there ;)

Frederick is wonderful isn't he? And the new BBD, I simply must have!!! Cinders is a wonderful color, I just got some this week!!! And of course look at your wonderful pumpkin patch...perhaps you'll be looking for the 'Great Pumpkin' like Charlie Brown???

I thought the way to cut down the WIP list was to forget where you keep them, LOL!!!

"Frederick" is gorgeous. Don't know why, but I always seem to be drawn to cross-stitched birds and bunnies. You're going to have quite the crop of pumpkins! Keep us posted . . .

Oh Lordy - I have to finish the first BBD chart WHERE MY HEART BLOOMS so I can do the new one. Oh I love it. Drat! I wish I could stitch faster. LOL

Your pumpkin patch is awesome - I look forward to their growth over the coming months. Ben is trying to grow a cabbage which I don't have the heart to tell him isn't going to be a heffer. He brought home this cabbage plant from school back in March or April and told me WE had to plant it and tend to it over the next 10 weeks and then he could take the BIG cabbage in to school when it resumes in September. Ha! I think he's forgotten about the green thing and while there are leafs poking out here and there, I doubt anything will come of it. Honestly, I forget it's there sometimes and tread right over it. Pathetic, yes, I know. What kind of mother am I? Think I can get a cabbage from the store and push it in the earth and psych him out?

Whew! Now aren't you glad you followed along with THAT comment. LOL

Tanya, who is bidding you good night and going to stop typing because apparently my brain is fried from stitching today :)

I love frederick! The new Loose Feathers is cool too. I stopped subscribing to it this year but now I am regretting it as they are so lovely. Think I might just have to add some more charts to my stash ;O)

A new blog definitely deserves some new starts....I can't promise not to start these too, and I have no excuse. Looking forwards to seeing some wee pumpkins in your pumpkin patch!

Goodness girl - pumpkins LOL I love it. Good for you and may you grow the largest pumpkins every. Now that is one way to start over -by leaving everything behind. Hopefully one day you will want to retrieve your stitched pieces. Enjoy your new home and watching those pumpkins grow.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Welcome back! I was nearly moved to tears of joy when I read on Staci's blog that you were posting again! I've missed your entries so much. I'm in a state of new beginnings myself - new home, single mom again (same old kids and pets :oP). I did manage to remember to pack and move all my WIPs - but I'll try to keep your tip in mind for the next time. LOL

Love your pumpkins. I've got sweet potatoes started. I'm hoping, fingers crossed that I actually get a sweet potato out of them. That would be so cool! I hope you get a pumpkin or two too!
Mine are growing in a pot, which probably doesn't increase my odds, but I have no land as I live in an apartment.
I've been meaning to post a list of WIPs and progress pictures of them, but I haven't gotten that organized yet! I've been meaning to do this from uh, something like February! HA! Soon or later...
Lovely patterns. I especially like Frederick. He is beautiful and I just love his name. It fits him well.
I'm looking forward to see what Halloween pattern you start.
Take Care

Hi Annemarie,

In my best charcoal English; a little note from me, Annique! It is so much fun to read your adventures on the pumpkins. I'm so glad you started your blog again. They always make me laugh because I can imagine you saying the words you write in your blog. Hope to read a lot of your blogs in the future!
Love,
Annique

How about this design for your pumpkin patch? http://needlenecessities.blogspot.com/2006/09/stitch-finishing-ideas.html
Let me know as I can send you this simple little chart.

Now about WIPs...if you discover the success of getting them all finished will you please let me know the secret??? I have the longest list of WIPs for stitching and UFOs for quilting. I promised myself to use 2008 to get through as many as I can. It is so hard not to continually start on a new project!

Hugs ~
Heidi

That's quite a list for you ;-) I love the pumpkin patch - perhaps there is a green thumb somewhere around there for you.

Your new pieces are great....Frederick is pretty cute.
It looks like those pumpkins have a good start. No reason for them not to grow with all the love and care they get.
Halloween stitching is definitely in order.

The pumpkins look great! I put a little straw underneath mine when the flowers bloom. This keeps the baby pumpkins off the moist ground and then you won't end up with big, moldy pumpkins that squish when you try to pick them up.
I WILL be e-mailing you regarding Frederick...do you feel a "beggar" in you midst?

I very much approve your selection of stitching goodies ! CHS designs are lovely. Stay in great shape,

I love Frederick! He's so cute and I think he'd look good on black linen too.

Hope your pumpkins are bountiful. What are you going to do with them?

Dear An, I'm so happy to see you blogging again. I can't tell you how much I've missed you. My heart had a little chip out of it, but now I find it's mending...:) Thank you for coming back. Love and hugs, Deb

PS: I'm just sure The Great Pumpkin will bless your Patch!!

Taking pictures of my WIP's or WIM's is taking so much time I have decided to give them no attention at all (at the moment...). When people around ask me what I want for my birthday, mothersday, sinterklaas or christmas, I always know a design or 20... But I don't always get what I want.

Happy stitching

Oh wow those pumpkins have gotten so much bigger in such a short time! I feel confident that you will have lovely large pumpkins in due course :)

Frederick is gorgeous, and WIP busting is so much nicer in theory than in practice, so happy to support you in your startitis!!
