Well, as you all know there's nothing like a little retail therapy to cheer up a sad stitcher, so last Friday Harmien and I went to the villagette of Abbenbroek to enjoy the Summer Sale at Crown Stitches. I make it sound as if we just hopped in the car and drove there at the speed of light, but let me tell you, without Harmien to read the map we would never - EVER - have gotten there. Only a few miles from said village, we were so tired, so sick of the road, so hungry and so desperately in need of a toilet and sustenance, that we had a little fast food therapy as well...

Thank you, Harmien, for taking this picture and then putting away your camera and forgetting to photograph the really important things, like the inside of Liezbeth's home, which also happens to be a quilter's heaven and a stitcher's - slash - stash-gatherer's dream. Here's two pictures of my haul:
The red fabric is already in use:
This is the last you'll see of this project for now. It's a present (yes, a stitched gift! That's my idea of falling off a wagon), and the presentee is a reader of this humble blog, so this is just a peek before you can actually see what it's going to be.
The charts I got are Stitcher's Prayer by CHS, two pumpkin-themed Stacy Nash designs, and Garden Walk, by our very own Monique, which I'm looking forward to stitching some time soon.
This is my progress on Judith's neighbourhood so far:
And... Okay, you've asked for it, so don't blame me... here's a picture of my patch.
Holy moly. I'm afraid I'm going to have to borrow some of my neighbours' gardens soon...
It's starting to feel like one creepy Halloween already, but that might also have something to do with the freakish weather we've been 'enjoying'.
I'm not in a very writeative mood today. Nothing personal. This always happens after I hand in a translation. Yes, the Blazing Little Christmas stories are now a thing of the past. Thank heavens. All those jingle bells were starting to get on my nerves, and they didn't do anything for my desire to stitch Christmas ornaments, which is still as non-existent as it was before I started working on this book. It's a good thing it's only October July.
Coffee and bed.
No.
Coffee in bed.
With a book.
Nice.

I tell ya, there's nothing like a little retail therapy and fast food all in the company of a good friend!!! Love your new stash.
And goodness sakes girl, what the heck are you feeding those pumpkins???
I love your new stash! I've been bad and not gotten what I have for you off in the mail but, It should be on it's way tomorrow.
WOW what a pumpkin patch!
I'm glad you and Harmien had a good time on your little stash buying trip. there is nothing better then good friends and stitching.
Aaahh, a book and a bed, what a dream. You even have a McDonald's that looks like the US! Isn't it fun to get new stuff??
Yama Hama, Annemarie - those pumpkins are going to be the toast of the town or village or whatever you call it over there. LOL My goodness, they are growing at warp speed.
Too funny about the inside shop pictures. LOL Great picture though - McDonalds is McDonalds no matter where you are. I remember being in Belgium many, many years ago and eating fries there with a fork! They had mayo too. I'd recognize those large fries boxes anywhere. LOL
Sounds like you both had a grand time. SALE? Love those. Your goodies look great - esp that red linen!!!
Tanya
Well, hellfire, Annemarie--I just read your last few posts all at once, and I want to say that I'm sorry, so sorry, for your pain. Some years ago, I went through a crappy divorce (which is probably redundant--is there any such thing as an uplifting divorce? a pleasant divorce?), so I understand the wrench of a life sent skittering off into the unknown.
I find McDonalds good therapy, and friends, and great stash, and a book in bed (but not a book in a bath--to me that's too much like reading in a stewpot). The pumpkins though? Now that I don't understand.
Glad to hear that you are feeling a little better Annemarie. A little stash and a little starch (especially the deep-fried starchy treats) always do the trick for me.
Great stash - love that red linen!
Glad to find your blog again:)
Ahhh...nothing like a little retail therapy, or a lot is quite nice too! And its so nice to see you!!
Wow, Tanya is right! All McDonald's look pretty much the same - LOL!!! Great new stash, and it must have been fun to spend a day with Harmien!
Annemarie,
Your pumpkin plants are on steroids! Are you feeding them some newfangled fertilizer? Those leaves are huge.
Your stash outing sounded like fun. I'm glad that you got there ok. It's always better to have two people when you're going somewhere you've never been before.
Mickey D's is good comfort food. Though the WCs can be a bit on the iffy side ... ;0
Your retail therapy excursion was GREAT!! Wahoo! Love your new stash haul.
And your pumpkins! Lady, you are going to have to write a book about how to nuture the perfect pumpkin!
Your pumpkin vines are growing wild! Have you ever thought about growing sweet potatoes??? I think you need some of those too! :-)
Stashing does help and I'm glad you were able to get out with a friend. Starting something new helps too, which is what I'm doing today. Doesn't matter that I started something new a few days ago and haven't gotten it done either! Great stash and RR piece.
Oh and great header picture!
I am coming to your house in the middle of the night and 'borrowing' a couple of pumpkins when they show up. LOL! Oh the very thought of autumn just gives me thrills. It is my favorite season! We are now noticing the smells of the woods in Friesland are changing when it is hot and that means autumn will be arriving.
I peaked at the Crown Stitches link and came right back. Too excited about that pumpkin patch. :) I will go over and have a look now as I don't know this shop. Not good for a stitcher in Holland, right? Where is it? Love all of your new stash.
Hugs ~
Heidi
Oh yes, retail therapy in the form of new stash?! ROCK ON girl, rock on!
The pumpkins look great. I love Summer and all the freedom it allows me (less time at the gym) but there is something so special for me about Autumn. It is my favorite season and pumpkins are the main symbol of it. Yes, there is nothing like a bit of retail therepy to enliven the Soul. Right now it's moslty "retail dreaming" for me.
How nice you spend your therapy with us. Hope the way back wasn't that far.
Thanks for your nice words about our house and your welcome to visit again.
Liezbeth
Darn it all...now just seeing you enjoying fries and a burger from dear McDonald's has my foot itching to press my gas pedal to drive down the road to get me some! :)
I'm so glad Harmien is there to pick your spirits up! There isn't a better spirit picker upper than Harmien ;)
Those pumpkins...WOW!
I see you had a great trip to the Therapy store.
I'm going to one this afternoon to stitch and shop.
Yup works for me too!!!
You have wonderful stash and I can't wait to see the final results of the RED.
Oh the pumpkins are great..The neighbors probably won't mind...there might be one missing at Halloween!
Have a great day!
Hmm, coffee and bed or in bed, wonderful combination. I'm glad you had a cheering day. Fabulous stash!
Lovely stash- that red linen is delcious! Can't wait to see the final outcome of the project you are stitching.
Your pumpkins look great - big enough for Cinderella's coach maybe?
Wow nice projects! Lovely stash haul too. xx
Retail therapy is a beautiful thing! Your pumpkins are growing and looking good!
Yup, retail therapy, fast food, and good company, just what a person needs to pick up their spirits. Glad you had such a good time, and got some lovely new stash. Your new start looks interesting on the red, looking forward to when you post what it is, and nice progress on your RR as well. All that, and your patch is taking over the garden, sounds like things are looking up.
Sue
wow!
on everything: on your pumpkins, on eating at McDonalds, on visiting Liezbeth, on buying these great designs, on already have started on the fabric ;-)
Oooh, I love a bit of retail therapy! My husband just brought home a TomTom (one of those GPS navigators for the car) and I can see myself already putting in all the postcodes for my favourite stitching haunts :) Loving the pumpkin patch, it's going great!
Oh, I love that picture of Pelle that heads your blog. He is such a handsome little fella.
Glad to hear you have some good friends to help you through this. And boy are they enablers - stitching stores and fries. It don't get much better than that. Take care my friend.
Hi Annemarie,
How are does your pumpkin grow? Ben planted a cabbage at the end of the school year in June or was it May?! anyway, the thing is massive leaves but I doubt anything will come of it.
Happy Weekend,
Tanya
