The Colour Ouch

It's been exactly one week since my previous post, and boy, what a week it was. Pelle has been very ill, with the same sort of creepy crawly infection that landed him in the hospital at the start of this year. Thankfully, I remembered the symptoms all too well, so this time it was nipped in the bud before it could do too much damage. After that, of course, it was Mama's turn. I came down with an infection which makes my face look like a botox experiment gone horribly wrong and which gives my right leg a shade of colour GAST and Weeks Dye have yet to come up with (I was thinking something along the lines of Pimplepurple with Green Dots). But at least the 40 degree C/104 degree F is now only a faint memory, and I think, this evening, I will finally be able to get back to this baby:

As you see, I'm really enjoying this sampler...

Noah, not so much.

And since I have nothing further to tell you, I'm going to show you a smidgen of a birthday gift I made for someone. She knows who she is (I was actually going to give it to her last week, but then all these unforeseen circumstances happened, so I couldn't), I haven't mailed it to her yet (unforeseen circumstances) and it was a complete pest to put together (unforeseen circumstances in the way of me having no sewing skills. What. So. Ever.). It's crooked and lop-sided, but hey. It's primitive, so what? Right?

Hope you like it, B. At least it was made with a lot of love and with you in my heart and mind.

Yours pimplepurpley,

Annemarie

I'm so glad you are feeling better and Pele too! Hmmmm I HATE spots with a vengeance and even did a deal with G-d when I was kid that it was okay to make me fat (I was a really skinny then) but no spots. Well he kept his end of the bargain until last week. Yep I'm fat that's for sure and I got my first spot last week so as he has now broken his part of the deal it's only right that he makes me thin now! Anyway I'm glad your leg is no longer green with purple spots (or was it the other way around??)!

I love the gift you made and would love to see all of it please. Pretty please with chocolate on the top?!?

Lots of Love

Hi pimplepurpley person, are you sure the Mexican flu hasn't landed at your doorstep?
It doesn't sound good, I hope Pelle is all better by now. But you too!

Love the primitive look of your finish-finish. And as a white person with no sewing skills either, I'm in awe at the screen...

Hope you'll be your old self (the good old self in case there's a less good old self) pretty soon.

Dear pimplepurpley with gorgeous green dots,

I like the sneak peek very much and cannot wait to see the whole thing. Not only because your skills far outstrip your modesty, but because that will mean that you're actually HEALTHY again.

Your Salem sampler looks fab, too, but you know that.

I've been thinking about you today, wondering how you're doing. I'm glad to hear that you seem to be slightly on the mend, and I do hope that you'll gain some speed on the road to recovery.

Yours,
B.

Glad to see you back, even though you are a bit discolored. Perhaps you can blend in with my angry red face of late! Glad to hear both you and Pelle are doing better. Hopefully Panteof won't be next.
Love the Salem Sampler and the "mystery gift" snippet.

Sorry to hear that you both have been under the weather, Glad to hear that you are both recovering well and that you are stitching or should I say brewing up a storm with all that wonderful stitching.

So sorry that you and your son have been under the weather! You're making great progress on your sampler, but am sorry that you haven't worked on Noah! Your pincushion looks very sweet too.

Poor Pelle, and poor you!! I hope you're both on the mend quickly.

Your sampler looks great. I loved stitching it. Have you read "The Lace Reader" by Brunonia Barry or "The Heretic's Daughter" by Kathleen Kent? If not, you MUST. They'd be great to read while you're stitching Salem Remembered. My daughters read the books after I stitched SR & said afterwards that the sampler made sense to them. Love the pincushion, too!

Oh poor you, I am really sorry to read that you have been so colourfully unwell. Hope that Pelle and yourself will now stay in tip top shape until the end of the year. Wishes for 2010 will then take over and focus on good health.

So sorry to hear that you've been hit with a nasty bug...but what a relief that you caught Pelle's early. Hope that you are both doing much better now.

Can't wait to see more of that sneak peek!!!

You and Pelle have had enough of that hideous infection. Hope you're both feeling much better.

I think someone got a lovely gift!

Goodness, my multi-colored friend, I'm so sorry that both you and Pelle have been battling another wicked virus! School has started in our area and the germs/viruses are mixing it up already and laying people low. That N1H1 swine flu has really attacked Wash. State Univ. so I suppose it'll be striking our town soon. Gotta keep us all washing our hands and hope to stay well this season!

At least you've been stitching, more than I've managed in a good long while.

Yeesh, not again! Poor yous! At least I suppose you know what it is this time and could get help for it sooner. Hope you all feel better soon.

The sampler is looking great. And the primitive piece - yeah - you're right, that's why we like Prim!

Take care!

Sending both of you healing thoughts for a very speedy recovery, and hugs too. I second the recommendation for The Heretic's Daughter. I just finished it last week and it was an amazing read.

My goodness girl! I should have known. When you didn't post for a bit I should have realized things were not right.
Glad to hear that you were able to catch Pelle's infection early! As for you my multi-colored friend, I hope you are on the road to recovery and returning to a healthy shade of ??????

I hope you both are feeling back to normal by now! Pretty stitching :) I love that primitives are allowed to be a little wonky LOL

Dear An, Having lived close enough to Salem to have visited it many times, I have to tell you that the Sampler you're stitching carries a curse! You didn't think you'd get away scot free, did you??? Oh, yes, the witches of Salem are still very active and they tend not to like unsolicited heraldry. They're still very angry about that whole Witch Trial issue!!
So, I'm not surprised at all that you have the Salem Curse...it will go right away once you finish the Sampler. Of course, Pelle only had it a little bit because he was scared to death seeing your face begin to pop out and contort.
My suggestion is that you get away from those Salem girls asap~~
The other little pincushion is safer by far...and adorable.

I'd like you give both of you a big hug. You've had your share lately when it came to infections and I hope you are feeling much better by now.
I absolutely love this sampler and it's on the list for my next order which will go out very soon.

Just read on Barbara's blog that you and Pelle are having a tough time right now. Thought I'd just drop by to say 'Hi' and let you know I'm thinking about you both. Hope things improve soon.
