Progress, honeybuns. Progress on Poinsettia House for my SAL with Harmien:
You know, if Ms. Williams had named it Rhubarb Cottage I would have believed it as well. Have you ever seen a poinsettia in this colour? Mine are always DMC 815 coloured, not rhubarb-coloured. Anyway. I'm enjoying this. It's a nice break from the tedium of Noah's coat. Having said that, I'm very much looking forward to next week, when my Christmas hols will start (oh, the joys of being a freelance translator! You work your hiney off for a couple of months a year, and then you get to enjoy weeks and weeks of holiday fun. If you use my method, that is. Which is perhaps not advisable, at least not for the feeble of mind or the weak of heart. You know. You could do 5 pages a day every day for three months and not stress so much, instead of doing 30 pages a day for two weeks and be a nervous wreck by the end of the translation. But that's the way I work, and have done for twelve years. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, I say) and a merry season of stitching it will be. I want to try and finish Pelle's Noah's Stocking for Sinterklaas (December 5th) or if I can't make that, for Christmas. The chances of me making that December 5th deadline are not very good though, because of what happened yesterday. Look at what the evil people over at DMC have crafted now:
The first pic shows me that I need to clean things before I take a photograph. The second pic was titivated so as to make the chart illegible in the picture. Silly me for taking a pic like this...
A stitching box. With a lid. And room for stitchy decoration. Needless to say I had to have it. Oh, people at DMC, you may be evil for feeding my startitis, but sometimes evil is just so GOOD. Now, which design to stitch for the lid? I shall ponder this question after my deadline (which is Wednesday noon) (not afternoon: noon) (I'm telling you, these editors need to get themselves a life).
Yours rushedly,
Annemarie.

I was wondering what color was in this design! This is on my 2010 list of stitching. Hope you enjoy it, and I can't wait to see your Rhubarb House finish! Nice stitching box.
I love your Poinsetta House! I agree with you on the colors but they're still beautiful!
Stitching box details?!
Poinsettia House looks lovely so far. I too often wonder what's up with some of the designers' color choices.
That stitcher's box is amazing! Enjoy your holiday break. Mine continues too..........until at least the end of January.
Great start; and yes, it does make one hungry for rhubarb rather that make you want to sing carols! Maybe it will shape up as you go along.
And, That Box--it is a thing of beauty (and thus a joy forever)! Do I spy some penny rug circles inside?! Oh, penny rugs are my other joy, and I still need to show the one I made in September.
How is Pantoef? I suppose your deadline is keeping you from sharing his adorably mischievous self with us. Lately, I've added the words "Devon Rex" to my babbling about wanting a cat. (Previously it contained "Russian Blue" and somewhere "Abyssinian" joined the vocab). Marc had no idea what a DR was, so luckily I had access to Pantoef's blog so I used that to educate him. ;)
Is it REALLY true that they don't shed much? Hmm...
Our poinsettias come in cream and dark red and that washed out rhubarb you've got. (It's actually my favorite, the washed out pink.) Some places even spray them with glitter because you just can't be too over the top for the holidays (ugh).
That stitching box is to die for!!!!!! Gorgeous!!!
I totally understand what you are talking about translating.... I do it sometimes and I am the kind that piles it all up at the last minute.... I curse every time when the deadline was catching up to me and swear that I would keep a schedule next time, but would forget about all of it after I was done..... Bad habit dies hard, I guess~~ LOL
Just love your start on your piece! And that stitching box - oh, would I love one of those. Oh well, better not - I have enough stuff to last a lifetime and I can't even find much time to stitch!
Lovin your progress! And yeah, our poinsettias come in all kinds of colors, but I like the traditional red ones the best.
Pretty stitching box!
I have startitis too and can't find any medication for it yet! LOL
Jennifer
Feathers in the Nest
Wonder if the doctors will be giving the startitis vaccine now soon??? LOL! Already had the Mexican version and it has left me singing a funny little ditty all day long.
I used to buy poinsettias in that very color when I had my pink furniture. So they do exist.
Love your new box!
Hugs ~
Heidi
temptations, temptations!!
and work... well, that's the joy of life I guess ;-)
good luck with your deadlines (or as my DD1 use to call it: doodslijn)
Oooh very nice wip and even nicer box!!! You know you gotta!! xx
That's a fab box. I'll have to see if the two Lame-O excuses for needlework shops in Gouda carry it. One of them is supposed to carry DMC stuff, but....
Wednesday at noon. It's not as stupid as Niek's deadlines of Friday at 5 pm. Seriously, who is there after 5 pm to see if people checked their work in or not? Corporate idiots....
