Nothing to declare

Like the great Oscar Wilde, I have nothing to declare today but my genius, but I thought I’d pop round anyway. You know, to give a sign that I’m still here. Sort of. You won’t find me in the stitchy corner of Blogland, though, because the knitting bug has bitten me in the behind. Since this is a stitchy blog I won’t bore you with too many details about the several scarves, neck warmers, blankets and throws that have now joined the many cross stitch samplers in my WIP drawers, except to say that I have found my knitting rhythm. My old internet friend (old because we’ve known each other for a long time, not because she is old in person) Maria S. suggested I listen to march music if I was trying to find a rhythm, but I found that listening to the opening tune of the Teletubbies (not out of my own free will, I'm sure you will understand) works very well, too. But do you know which song really got my knitting rythm going? You will never guess. It came as quite a surprise to me, too and I’m not completely sure it was intended to serve as background music for knitting ladies, but there you go… Raspberry Beret by his Royal Purpleness, Prince. Who knew? Not him, surely.

Speaking of Teletubbies, Pelle is doing very, very, very, very well after his tonsilotomy*. In fact, they told me beforehand that the surgery would cause him to not talk so much and I was really looking forward to the sound of quiet coming from my very talkative son, but he opened his mouth as soon as he opened his eyes, and he hasn’t shut up since. He’s such a sweetie. Look at him offering a helping hand :o)

Aaaaand, speaking of sweeties, here is the long-awaited picture of my niece Eline. Included is a picture of her father, my brother, who clearly felt left out, what with all the attention going to his girlfriend and his daughter. His solution? He fell and broke his hand while trying to catch a train. Sigh. Men…

Yours *)jokingly,
Annemarie.

Bwahahahaahah about men doing anything for attention! And the knitting tunes: I think his royal Purpleness (who, if you think of it, is probably well on his way to being well, very late middle-aged purpleness), probably would like a nice ruffled scarf in a bright color. He lives in Minneapolis, after all. I'd think 1999 would work better, though. As for music I like to knit (as well as stitch) to: Techno. Yep, that's got quite a beat.

Glad that you and Pelle survived his op and that he's on the mend. Eline is gorgeous, what a little sweetie :)

My DH fell and broke his foot whilst running for the train (a few years ago now though) - men, eh?!

Sounds like you are really enjoying knitting! I hope you share some photos of what you are making. I would love to see them. How fun that you knit to Prince! Isn't he so cute?

Pelle is as adorable as ever, and I'm glad things went well for him in the hospital. Eline is very gorgeous!

Good morning, Annemarie! It's nice to see you even if you have gone over to the 'wooley' side! I am only envious and wish I had the genius for knitting! But very odd about the Prince song - there must be some hidden, you know, suppressed notion in there somewhere! ;-)

Good to see and hear that Pelle is back to his happy talky self again!

It's good to see that Pelle is over the operation, he looks pretty well in those pictures.

Men are amazing sometimes, one of my colleagues broke his hand while dancing a few years ago!

Glad Pelle came through his operation so well! Your niece is a sweetheart! Sounds like you really have been bitten by the knitting bug. I bet Prince would be surprised to know that Raspberry Beret was such a great knitting song!!!

Nice to know Pelle isn't suffering after his op.

Your poor brother is he missing out on getting to cuddle his new daughter?

I'm so happy to hear that Pelle is doing so well after his surgery! Your new niece is absolutely adorable.
Can't wait to see what you've been knitting.

Glad Pelle is doing OK, how sweet he looks cleaning up, do you want to send him here and he can help me!!

Typical bloke your bro, has to get in on the attention by doing something that will prevent him from changing nappies perhaps??

I'm glad Pelle is doing so well! Cute photos!

Glad to read that knitting to music is helping. At least your brother suffered his break in a dignified way. Remember the stitcher who broke a bone in her foot playing some card game on the compter? Maria S.

I know I'm somewhat late with my comment but I want to say that I love the new pictures of Pelle and the good news that surgery went well and that he's as talkative as before, lol.
