How now red cow?

A surprise update. Well, a surprise to me. But today I have worked in the garden, I worked on my translation and now it's too darn hot to even stick the tip of your nose outside the door, so surely the only sensible thing to do is to curl up in front of the AC and write a blog post. Also, I have things to show you!

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to take some very old finished projects to the framer's (as I didn't have any very new finished projects), with these results:

My favourite of the lot by far. It's one of the 14 birds from a fantastic booklet published by Bahmann, full of these quirky birds, by Jutta Ortmanns. Finished in *gulp* 2003. The next one is another design from this book:

And yet another Bahmann design, called Worpsweder Oktett. I have no idea where to hang this thing in a house full of samplers. It's a lovely thing, it was a joy to stitch, I wanted to have it framed, and now... I don't know where to put it.

The last one is Summer Row by Bent Creek. Finished in *gulp* 2002. Love it!

And now for the projects that are heading towards being framed with gathering speed (well... one can dream). There's Needleprint Sarah Harris, which I'm loving!

This is my favourite of all Needleprint charts, because the colours and the medallions are so completely quirky. Do you see that motif on the right? It has a colour in it that I have never, ever, not once, used in my entire stitching career (which is in its 17th year). To be fair, it hurts my eyes and every stitchy fibre in my body to use this colour, and yet... and yet. It works! What a lovely surprise!

A sampler which I'm loving even more is Isabella Johnstone. I'm halfway, and I started this one only a little over a month ago. This may not impress some of you stitching machines, but to me, that is quite a feat, I tell you.

With this heat, all I really want to do is assume a foetal position, because I am a winter person and a winter person without winter is as a coffee person without caffeine... Damn! I'm a coffee-drinking winter person drinking water in the summer. Oh, the horror!

Thanks, as always, for your continued visits, and for your lovely and supportive comments. They really do make my day! Now if you'll excuse me, I have a cow to attend to.

Yours perspiringly,
Annemarie.

Those birds are just adorable! It must be nice to get some older pieces framed.

Isabella Johnstone is sweet. I love the cow!

Your framed pieces look great! I love the 2 new samplers you are working on. Can't wait to see the continued progress!

Well heavens to Betsy! You are a stitching Dynamo!!! I'd put my long picture of cello players over a door way :) I think they are CUTE!
All of your framed pieces are darling and a huge YAY and WELL DONE and a resounding BRAVO! To you dear Annemarie!

Hope things cool off soon!!!

Love all your framed pieces. The Worpsweder Oktett might look nice over a door and hung low over a table?

Great framing Annemarie! Those birds are very quirky and I love Summer Row :) As for the musicians, do you have a gap above a doorway or window perhaps? I hung my Workbasket Landscape, a similar sized/shaped piece, above the window in my stitching room, where there was a narrow space, just deep enough for the frame and a bit of a gap top and bottom. It's not next to anything else and it fills an awkward space.

I'm enjoying your Sarah Harris progress, even though I'm still a bit dubious of that bright pink ;) It's growing on me though and the second motif is lovely!

Good Canada Day morning to you Annemarie. It's cool cool cool here. We'll be lucky to hit 20c today. Love the birds! Maria S.

Oh what lovely framings. I love your birdies. Quirky and cute just like their owner LOL.
Thank goodness for AC - sounds like you are suffering in the heat. You can hide inside and stitch lol.

Wow, all of your framed pieces look wonderful! Summer Row catches my eye because I love anything nautical, and the quirky birds are fantastic!

Your samplers in progress look wonderful! Enjoy stitching them.

Hi there, nice to get your news! Good for you on the framing mission (I'd have many many gulps...), and they're all beautiful pieces! And Sarah H is just wonderful, as I've stated before: I don't think I'll be able to resist starting this much longer, and it's mainly your fault :-)

I love all your framed pieces!! That one with the violins and cellos is the one that calls to me, with a bass-playing son. :D Love your WIPs too. Both pieces are on my todo list. Beautiful!

Wow, Wow and again Wow!! What fun pieces you have had framed An.

Love the samplers you are working on.
You pick the best designs!!

I do think you should just sit in front of the AC and enjoy your caffeine.

hugs, Margaret

Hope you're having a cooldown like we are here - it's only 75 at 10:30 am. Now that's something, lately!
I can relate - it's hard to find a place when you love so many different styles, but THE place will announce itself for you; wait and see. Lovely work, and I think it's a blazing needle!

What fun, framed pieces you got back Annemarie! The birds are so cute and funny! The Oktett is wonderful - on of my BF's son plays the chello and I'm sure she'd love something like this in her home.
Sara Harris is looking great and can't wait to see more with that great color.
Finally, what's not to love about Isabella? I think I'm going to have to breakdown and order that one myself. Love that cow! I think you've done a remarkable amount of stitching but then comparing you to me is hardly fair - you're way faster than I am!

All of your framing is lovely. Those birds are so fun! And your Isabella is coming along beautifully. I love that one and if I had the fabric, I'd start her immediately!

Your framed pieces look perfect!!!! I have that book also and I love those birds~~~~ Seeing yours make me feel like stitching them up!!!

Love those Bahmann designs. Never heard of them before, but I'll have to do a little computer searching to find some. That red cow is so cute!
Stay cool...today is the first day in a while that it is quite bearable to be outside. I spent it cleaning a neighbors house.....

Oh you clever girl, Annemarie! I love those funky birds! They are lovely pieces you had framed.

You are doing way way better than me in terms of stitching. I am in that desert where 'a dry spell' is an understatement!

Glad you seem to be doing better, even if you are out of your (winter) element!

What great things you finally got framed - I love those birds and also the musician piece. I'm sure that you'll be able to find a place amongst the samplers. Love the red cow sampler too. I've seen that pop up here and there and I really like it.

At the moment I saw the two birds I remembered that I have that book, too. It's one of the first books I bought when I started crossstitching and I had totally forgotten about it. It's an awesome book and the two birds you stitched from it are so funny. I have to pull the book out ...

How wonderful to hear from you, Annemarie! I just penned you a short note (which hasn't even made it to the post office yet).

LOVE your cow, and you know how I feel about those birds! :D

As I was reading your blog and saw the lovely cello pictures, I was thinking to myself - over a doorway. And then I read Vonna's comments - thinking alike on this one!!

The birds are so cute....I favor the second one (but I love blue) - I can see myself smiling as that one is being stitched.

We're getting your hot weather this weekend - thanks for pushing it our way. Enjoy the a/c and cool down!

Love the framed birds and musicians! I have some 'old' stitching laying around too from years and years ago, so you're not the only one. I'm not a framing person, so it's stil in a pile to finish-finish.

Today is even warmer than yesterday, so good luck with the heat and the no-coffee.

All the framing looks great and your wips look lovely.

It's good to know that others have some 'older' stitched pieces still waiting to be finished or framed!
I love 'Worpsweder Oktett' and my suggestion, since it is so long --
hang it over a doorway!
Best to you & Pelle!

Thanks for the peek into your early stitching career. Some cute stuff. I am also melting, but I am not a winter person either. I'm more of a temperate person--a spring and fall girl, if you will. You can tell by the height of the weeds!

What cute birds -- I love their quirkiness! Wow, you've made great progress on Isabella. I saw her in the latest SANQ and she went right on my "to stitch" list; it's a beautiful piece. I'm looking forward to following your progress.

So that's where you've been--stitching! Wish I'd gone on holiday from the 'Net to Stitchland with you instead of Declutter/Clean the House Land.

Love those frame-ups (refuse to call anything from after the year 2000 old!), and the Red Cow!!! Be still my heart--you mustn't show me these things. :P

Take care, Annemarie. :D

I agree with Vonna--orchestra over a doorway, and the same with the seaside row (which I've gathered the materials for and am about to stitch). Wonderfully quirky is the word for your projects--particularly the birds! I wilted in the heat today, so I hear you on stitching in front of the A/C.

Girl, you need to find the coolest spot in your house and consume some coffee. Maybe your closet would be a good place?! I can't imagine going without coffee during the summer. Hang in there with that heat!

Love the framed pieces, and your WIPs are fabulous!

I picture your Oktett above a long bar in the bathroom with bright colored towels. It's striking on it's own - very nice piece!
