As you can see, I've slowly started making my way down. This serves two purposes: (a) it allows me to check if I won't run out of fabric once I get to the bottom - no matter how many times I checked, re-checked, counted and re-counted before I started, I'm never completely comfortable until I know exactly where a piece ends; and (b) if you feast your eyes on the total picture of the blue babe in my sidebar, you will see that she is standing on a carpet of flowers, featuring about seven million of these exact same squares:
Working all of this right at the very end, all in one go, will most probably finally wipe that inane smile off my face that I always carry when I work on the Blue Lady.
Shall I tell you a little secret? It's a very embarrassing secret, so I'm not sure that I should tell you, but I'm going to anyway. I'm never going to finish the Blue Lady. Never ever. Because yesterday evening I had this premonition that once I put the final stitch into her, I'll be finished too. This is not a joke, I swear. And just to be on the safe side (my premonitions are eerily accurate most of the time), I just won't finish her. Maybe I'll purposely NOT stitch one of the flowery squares, just so that she will never be really finished.
As I suspected, there weren't that many takers for Spring, Birds and Branches by Fremme, but enough to warrant an official drawing by my adorable little man. And since you were all so enthused about my Polish pottery, I took the opportunity to sneak a piece into the picture :o)
The Drawing...
The opening...
Congratulations, Giovanna! Be a dear and send your snail mail address to amcdevries AT gmail DOT com, and I'll send the birdies on their way to Italy.
Well, that's it from me for today. I hope you're enjoying a wonderful week. It's rather springlike here, and since it's a halfday for Pelle today, I think a long ramble through the woods is in order :o)
Yours bluely, but in a good way,
Annemarie.

Ooooh wat is ze toch grooooooot, en wat is ze toch mooi!! Maar niets zo mooi als dat Pelle-trio!!! Dweil mij maar op, ik ben gesmolten... ;o)
Wow! That is one big piece! She is gorgeous too! It's good you enjoy her. Don't like that premonition though.
When I saw this in your previous posts I did find it enormous and now you are holding it up, it is even more enormous and can imagine that finishing will be a task anyway so no worry's there .) Lovely fob too.
Your Pelle looks adorable, so serious doing his job and looking at the big smile he must know Giovanna!! LOL.
Have a great time in the woods.
Blue Lady is amazing!
You've made such a lot of good progress, Annemarie! She's looking wonderful. And I really like the idea of purposely leaving off a flower. :)
Blue Lady is an incredible piece of work! I had no idea she was as large as she is. I think she looks beautiful, and I vote for leaving off a flower!
That Blue Lady is one incredible piece!! And you know what, I have premonitions too about different pieces. There is a reason I do A&E pieces, and there has been a reason why I haven't wanted to finish Ann. But I'll tell you the truth - premonitions are just silly superstitions. So finish her - just do it over a long time! :o)
A handsome lad pulling my name out of a very pretty bowl - life can't get much better than that! :-)
Thank you so much, Annemarie.
I'm shocked by how large the Blue Lady is - the amount of stitching you've done is already huge!
Mrs. Slocomb makes a return. She is so lovely, I can imagine why you have such a smile on her face when you work on her. And yes, I would purposefully not stitch one of the flowers. Love her!
Blue Lady looks fabulous and huge! It's wonderful that you get so much enjoyment out of stitching on her. Love the flowers that will go at the bottom.
"Blue Lady" is an incredible piece! It is going to be gorgeous!
Perhaps your Blue Lady is meant to be a life-long work in progress! However it goes, if it pleases you it is a job well done and a joy in the process!
She is so HUGE! I bow down to anyone who can tackle a project of that size ;)
Hmmm, the way you tell the story, it sounds a little bit Twilight Zone! The Blue Lady is the biggest piece I've ever seen! Very pretty with the blues!
It's nice to see Pelle!
Like many others, I have been following Mrs. Slocomb's progress!
She is a big gal, isn't she? I was
just wondering, how many shades of blue are on this chart?
Always good to see your handsome
young man!
I think I've heard you say before that you won't finish the BL, but not for that reason! Reminds me of a tale I heard about a girl who wore a black ribbon 'round her neck all her life that I heard when I was about eight.
A spring-like woodsy ramble sounds great! :D
Blue Lady is so cool and if leaving a few stitches out makes you feel better then that's what you should do :-).
I have a ton of Polish pottery, when we lived in Belgium I went to Poland several times to shop for pottery, LOL.
You could always finish the last flower when you're 98, Annemarie!
Love your projects and that little fellow is just too cute. His smile would make ice melt.
Congratulations to Gio for winning the draw.
I have to admit, I had absolutely NO idea how big the Blue Lady actually is. I'm speechless. As for the premonition, leaving at least one stitch undone sounds like the perfect approach. Keep enjoying the stitching and the journey, though!
She's looking gorgeous, great progress
Oh my good Lord, I did not realize the Blue Lady was that large! Now, I am seriously impressed that you even started her. Please don't ever finish her. I wouldn't want to do without you.
Pelle looks so happy and handsome in his drawing photos.
WOW. I had no idea that she was that large! She's looking so good-- I started to say I can't wait to see her finished, but given your premonition I'll just say I can't wait to see her *almost* finished!
Cute pic of Pelle :)
Okay, okay...I should not have even asked. My gosh girl but you are a glutton for punishment. You are only slightly shorter than me...yikes! I knew it was big but not that BIG. And speaking of big, look at that smile on Pelle's face! What a sweetie and although I totally wish he had pulled my name out of your beautiful bowl, I want to congratulate Giovanna.
Are you really working on knitted wristies??? :-)
Hugs en groetjes ~
Heidi
WOW that is a HUGE project! And BEAUTIFUL, too! I'm in awe.
Thank you so much for your nice comment on my blog :O). I'm stitching the Quaker Heart with DMC 4030, Monet's Garden. It really is pretty in person.
You have a lovely blog. There's so much going on, it will take me a while to catch up! I really love the color combinations in your granny square afghan. And the thought process was too funny...granny...granny squares...that's the way my mind works, too!
Happy Stitching!
