It was bound to happen

Before you ask: yes, I'm still ploughing through that cowpat of a novel, and no, I'm not reading it for myself OR for work, because if I only had to read it I would just lock myself in my cottage for a day or two and be done with it. Or I wouldn't read it at all, which is by far and away and without a shadow of doubt the wisest thing to do with this book. Still. I'm a translator, so translate it I will.

Thankfully, I have friends who love to indulge me in my procrastinating ways. I placed an order for a gift with Annemiek last week and when the package arrived, I found two of the same freebies (one for the giver and one for the giftee, I assume). It was Portrait of a Cat by Brittercup Designs. Oh, Annemiek, you evil vixen you! I just had to stitch it, dribbly novel or not. On the plus side: it only took me exactly an hour to kit, stitch, iron and frame it and my translation time didn't suffer for it (my sleeping time did, though). Here it is:

Bear in mind, it was 10.30 pm when I started it, so the framing was done in bad light and with a sleepy head. And besides, have you ever tried framing something in a heart-shaped frame? It's not easy. It looks a bit crooked, but I thought I'd just label it 'primitive' and in that light it looks rather charming, if I do say so myself.

My parents' canine fur babies were here for a sleep over during the weekend, and Pelle was in seventh heaven. Especially when I let him walk the pooches.

I don't know which of the three boys looks cuter. Oh, what am I saying? I do know :o)

Have a lovely week all!

Yours cheerily,
Annemarie.

An hour? That only took you an hour? You are a speedy girl! Pelle looks like he's having a ball!

Pelle looks so cute walking those dogs. He was able to control both at once? Amazing!
Great little kitty stitch. I love things I can finish up in a day, straight through to framing.

You've found the perfect frame for that freebie - it's just adorable, congrats!

This freebie finish is more than cute. And you stitched and finished in just an hour? Hmm, I've always known that I'm a slow stitcher but I didn't know that I'm that slow, lol.
Oh I know about the distraction when you should do a certain job that you don't like. For me the best time for washing the dishes is while I'm grading tests and papers. I wonder why, lol.
Pelle leading the two little doggies, what a cute team they are.

I think the framing is lovely!
And I don't see it as off at all.
yes anything that is not a square seems to be very hard to frame indeed! :)

Wow - an hour! That's speedy stitching! It looks wonderful in that frame! And Pelle looks like he's having the time of his life.

Oh Annemarie, you made me laugh reading your post. I did indeed include two freebies so you each would have one. Now I knew you like cats, but I didn't think or intend to have you stitch it right away and do it in an hour! I really love how you finished it.
And Pelle is adorable, walking the two dogs, I can imagine he was having a grand time.

I do know too, the middle one, isn't it?? ;-)

Love the stitched freebie and I love the primitive finishing too. It just looks like my home, I'm glad that has a name now: primitive LOL.

Good luck translating! I think it's not easy to persevere when you dislike a book that much.

Pelle looks great, so happy!

The framed cat does not look crooked in the least to me, and it is a beautiful design !
Pelle looks very sweet with the doggies - they are cute, but comparison is impossible, of course !
Good luck with the translation. One picks a job, one sticks to the job... :-)

I went back and read the blogs I've missed...yikes my computer is such a pain. Actually not the computer but the server.
It's fixed again for now.

Your newest family member is soooo cute. Mr. Pontoef. Charming for sure.
The new puppies are sweet as well.

Sorry you have to wade through a book you don't enjoy. I suppose that is inevitable sooner or later.

Your stitching is looking good.
I love the portrait of a cat. Nice job!
take care .

I've got one love on this blog entry, and that's Pelle! He's the precious one. Your little frame isn't too bad, either. I just love little things like that. Still, I'll take Pelle any day! :)
