So. Yesterday was the first day of the rest of my life. I don't know if that's technically true, but it definitely feels like it. And my goodness, what a dreadful day that first day was. But it is all in the past and we can now move on. I started by doing something I've been wanting to do for many years: get ourselves a pet. Being from a doggy family (a Yorkshire Terrier family, to be precise) the thought of cats always had my parents screaming out in horror. 'You don't want a cat', is what they always told me. But I actually DO want a cat and I have done for quite some time. And you know what? After yesterday (the first day, etc) I finally feel free to do it, too. Admittedly, the Sip & Stitch at Heidi's place didn't help. Apart from the fact that Heidi left us - or at least me - wanting to be
a) a kitchen goddess
b) a master quilter
c) a faster stitcher
d) living in a house with more wall space
e) in possession of time and a bank account that would enable me to achieve all of the above
her cat Dagi left me longing even more for the constant company of a cat. I heart Dagi and I do believe Dagi didn't totally un-heart me. So I did my research and it would greatly surprise me if I don't have a little one running around here at the beginning of July. That's all I'm going to say about it...
...except that now I have to start me some cat samplers. Rats.
Speaking of our Sip & Stitch, you must have all read about it on the other blogs and you must also know that Heidi made us all a personal beaded floss fob and gifted us with some special floss to suit our favourite colour palette. Here's the picture of what Heidi made for me:
Isn't it gorgeous? Thank you, Heidi, for the loveliest of days and for the beautiful fob.
Even though it is Noah's Stocking update day it won't come as a terrible surprise to you that I didn't do any work on it. I was too busy working on my Do Not Fuck With Me Replacement Sampler. For obvious reasons.
Remember what that was all about? I started a sampler that read Do Not Fuck With Me and while I was stitching it I felt the negative energy coursing through my veins, not helping me at all? And so I decided to pick up the Alter Echo Sampler and rename it the Do Not Fuck With Me Replacement Sampler. Now, working on this sampler does calm me down. And here's my progress. Also partly thanks to Heidi, by the way, because her finished Sampler looked so good I would have secretly slipped it in my tote and kidnapped it if it hadn't been so huge.
Oh! And there's more! Yesterday, before I was due in court, a package was delivered for me, and it contained this:
And this:
Oh, and this:
And something else which I can't show you, but it's one of the Country Cottage Kids series. The Mum to be is a visitor and she's not allowed a peep.
Well girls (and mayhap boys), that's it from me. Until next time!
Yours free as a birdly,
Annemarie.

What wonderful stash!! I had missed your earlier post and all I can do is reiterate what has been said by better writers than me - You are strong! You are right!! You are a MOM!!!!
Have a great one and know that we are all thinking about you and yours!!

I'm glad you had such a great time with Heidi! It's good to have these days. And wow, a cat in the house, isn't that a great plan! My DH and DS are allergic, so it isn't a good idea for us, but otherwise we would have cats too.
Love your new designs.
Annemarie, you sound a bit cheerier today, and I'm so glad! I think a pet is always a good idea because no matter what kind of day you've had they are always cheery! you and Pelle will be fine ~ better than fine! love all your new stash and your progress on the DFWM replacement sampler is gorgeous!
Lets look at it this way-the day before was the worst day of your previous life and today is the start of the new! Nice progress on your sampler and the stash is awesome!
You may have noticed that my blog is conscipuously quiet today....no update on the SAL from me either.
Now, all that stitchy stuff aside..A CAT, A CAT, A CAT!!!!!! How wonderful! I can't wait to meet him or her. It just warms my heart to know another feline friend in need will find a loving home.
Congratulations free as a birdly.
I don't know you very well, but I DO know tht you and Pelle will now have a wonderful life...it may be hard at times, but you no longer have to look over your shoulder.
Annemarie, glad to hear that one day you opened the door and a 'fresh new start' has appeared. I can hear it in your voice and am very very happy for you.
Love your stash. I've been seeing lots of people getting BIG stash lately and it's always nice to check out new designs.
Looking forward to seeing your kitten sometime soon.
I have actually enjoyed having a cat these past years, well quite a number of years now as he's almost 12! He's a huge orange cat, has been so great with all the kids, caught mice and various other creatures that wander into our yard, and has just the right mix of independence and need for affection. I'd highly recommend an orange tabby cat. :D Pelle will love having a kitty!
Glad that this court-filled episode of your life is over and now you can get on with living your life in the way you wish. May you have many more days such as the one you spent at Heidi's!
Well, I can't prove it, but I suspect that you're really holding back on posting about your incredible stitching progress on Noah to avoid embarrassing the lone slacker in the CHS Stocking SAL group. And no, we won't be naming that slacker by name now, will we?
Was very surprised to learn that Thursday had arrived yet again. And so soon . . .
Still no trip to my not-so-LNS to obtain the missing stocking fabric. [sigh] Still no idea when I can even plan said trip. Will continue to live vicariously through other SAL'ers progress until something changes.
I'm a converted cat person who originally hailed from a dog family. It can be done.
Good to read your post.
Here's to new beginnings.....
Mary Eman
Hi Annemarie, I think getting a cat is a great way to celebrate the new beginning, I'm looking forward to seeing photos of you, Pelle and Cat!
I love that verse on the Alter Echo sampler, and it's my best colours too, that one may be going on the ever-increasing list!
Your Alter Echo sampler is wonderful--and wonderful stash enhancements!! YGG!
I grew up with cats & had them as an adult, too, till we moved here and got The Fluffinator, my first dog. I love both cats and dogs... love having a pet in general. They love unconditionally.
Celebrate your new beginning, and the fact that you made it through the worst day and it's in the past. Hang in there!
Well, Annemarie, you do sound better and I can only rejoice about this. You are STRONG - alright, alright, it is tiring to be strong always, that's why we'll take it as an excuse for not progressing with Noah... ;-)
Hope that the worse is now over. I agree, a pet would be a great addition to your home! And I love your sampler - very pretty colors! And the stash - it's wonderful. Should give you many enjoyable hours of stitching time.
Nice new stash, and your Alter Echo sampler is lovely - love your colors!
A kitty? I love kitties (animals in general really), and when you feel your lowest they give you all their love.
Hope you and Pelle have a wonderful day together!
You go girl! I really admire the way you handle the difficulties in your path and persevere. You have an amazing strength and attitude. You and Pelle are blessed to have each other. Many {{HUGS}}
Hey, Bloglines didn't tell me you'd posted. Bad Bloglines!
Now, I am a cat person first and a dog person because cats make me sneeze too much. LOL. So I'm totally in favor of you getting a kitty. And Niek, to my utter astonishment, has fallen in love with the kitty whose picture you sent. Had I known there were cats who were more 'allergy resistant' I might not have gotten dogs! But I love my stinky beasts and am glad to have them.
Your stash is great. You have excellent taste! :D
And the first day of the rest of your life - wow, that's so great. I'm so happy that you and Pelle are finally able to get the (legal) distance you need.
Take care!!
Well dear Annemarie, Dagi hearts you too! He did hold your hand which you neglected to tell everyone. How much more proof do you need. He is very proud that he has caused this ruckus by the way! Now I expect to be invited to 'krambezoek' and have biscuit met muisjes! We do that when we have a new fur baby...lol. So have you found a nest for sure now?
I was so happy to have you here. It is something I reflect on right now while I am housebound until I start to get better. Nah...let's call it stitchbound. Now there is a happy thought. I am glad your fob has found a happy home! And I am forewarned if any of my samplers ever go missing. I will hightail it to your house...lol. Your Alter Echo is beautiful so keep up the great work. Without too much neglect to Noah of course. :-)
Hugs ~
Heidi
Glad you are moving ahead with life. I thinks pets are wonderful, and are wonderful companions.
Love your new stash!
Pets are wonderful! Can't wait to see yours;)
Awesome new stash!!
I wish for you and Pelle a most wonderful mother/son weekend:)
Sounds like you had a wonderful time at Heidi's. The fobs are gorgeous and I love your replacement sampler. Great gifts. I can't wait to see your new furry friend. I have a cat and would like another as we lost one last year. x
I think a pet is just what the doctor ordered ;-). Being a dog woman I'd probably get a puppy but that's me. I think cats are a bit easier to train.
You know, divorce is such a sad thing but I hope for you it's a new beginning for both you and Pelle.
Love all your new stash!
Merlin, my old man cat, and I wish you well in your catly endeavors.
Congrats on your liberation from matrimonial entanglement and happy wishes for good things to come. If time does not heal all wounds, perhaps it will wound all heels. I can't remember where I read that, but it fits, doesn't it?
Hi Annemarie...well !! :-)
This day out you had round Heidi's certainly seems to have spurred you on to aspiring to lots of things and now you have started on from the 'first day of the rest of your life' who knows what you will achieve :-)))
I think you look like a cat person , most definitely! Roll on July and we can 'meet' you new fluffy friend. Are you getting a kitten seen as it will be July? Pelle is going to love this :)
I was smiling about your DFWM-AE Sampler keep stitching it with great gusto and feel that CALM washing over you !
Take care- hugs to Pelle Helen
Lots of hugs to you and Pelle. I just caught up on your last post as I'm a little behind with my reading.
LOVE your Alter Echo sampler. I went and downloaded it after I saw your last progress photo.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time with Heidi. Love the fob you made for you.
Gorgeous new stash:)
How lucky Pelle is to have someone so strong and loving, what a beautiful life!
Love the sampler and congrats on the cat and gifts.
What a wonderful day you must have had at Heidi's. I have never been at her home but just visiting her blog leaves me with the same wishes for what I want to be, lol.
