Thanks a bunch

Although I do greatly appreciate all of you visiting and leaving comments (and by all means, don't let this following rant stop you), you might -- to use a phrase of Mrs. Bennet's -- want to have a little compassion on my poor nerves. What were you thinking, asking me en masse what my plan is for the Big Prairie Schooler Christmas Project? What plan? I need a plan? I'm sorry, but some of you have been following me and my stitching shenanigans for more than four years. Surely you must know by now that I don't do plans? Plans only lead to frustration and disappointment, at least when I make them. Still, you had me worried there for a bit. Suddenly I found myself wondering if having no plan was such a good idea and so very gingerly, I tried to think of one. The minute I started planning, though, my enjoyment went right out the window, so I'm back to Plan A, which is to stitch this with no plan in mind whatsoever. I just stitch whatever takes my fancy and hope that it will look okay when I'm done. Oh, and it is by no means certain that I will be using that entire big-ass piece of fabric either. I just don't want to run out of fabric before the sampler is finished (hee hee, see how I am counting on finishing it some day? Funny, that, isn't it?)
Anyway, I felt like stitching a certain PS Christmas freebie -- the Barnyard Freebie -- and that's what I was working towards on my last update pic. This is where we stand now:

I'm still incredible restless, stitchily speaking, because I have a number of stashy items that are on the verge of arriving or have already arrived on my doorstep. Firstly: silks for one of the CHS Girls, Molly (the one with the cat). Behold my start:

This is one length worth of Vikki Clayton silk. It's the first time that I've used HDF silks and they're oh, so yummy to work with. I'm stitching this on Light Sand Edinbugh linen (35 count, I believe?).

Secondly: silks for Mrs. Pearson, also by CHS. I'm sorry to say it, but both Blackbird Designs and CHS (my two favourite designers) are, IMHO, bad at doing NPS to DMC conversions. In order to avoid disappointments, I just went ahead and ordered the silks for two of the projects I knew I definitely wanted to do. So, here's Mrs. Pearson. Or at least, part of her hat.

For my Weird Lady Gallery. Now that I look at it up close, though, I don't like the coverage -- or rather, the lack thereof -- of one thread of silk over two on 32 count. What do you think? Go on, be honest.

Here's another start, one that I'm hoping to finish before I die of old age:

This is an oldie by Kathy Barrick Dieter, and it was a birthday gift to me from the lovely Dianne some years ago. This one is for my Angel and Tombstone Gallery. Notice that pretty fabric? It used to be a piece of plain, white linen, but after a coffee bath and a little sojourn in the microwave it is now called Nespresso Arpeggio.

Noah is hiding in a very dark corner somewhere. I'm really upset with him. That dress coat is boring the snot out of me. That and the peacocks.

Life here has been pretty ... er, how to put it nicely... interesting, since the arrival of Monsieur Pantouf. Turns out Pelle isn't so charmed by the idea of having to share his Mama with a spacey looking creature, and he's been having some pretty serious behavioral problems. Luckily, they're all hurtled in my direction, because Pelle is very sweet to Pantoef. I'm pretty sure it will all work out in time. It'd better, because neither Pelle nor Pantoef are going anywhere :o)
I, on the other hand, am going somewhere, i.e. in the direction of my coffee machine.

Yours planlessly (or should that be cluelessly?),
Annemarie.

Plans? What plans? We don't need no stinkin' plans!

Hey, Pantouf isn't spacey-looking; I think he's precious!

Ah, hon nice to see you about.
I never meant to scare you into a plan. Whatever works!!!
I love your new threads. I can just see you madly fondling them saying - Oh let's stitch with these, no these LOL
I am sure Pelle will figure out that he is and always will be first in his Momma's heart and settle down.

Oh, step away from THE PLAN! If it doesn't suit you, just ignore it and stitch whatever you'd like.

I have recently tried HDF silks too and my word to describe them was "yummylicious". Close, huh?

I hope the sibling rivalry settles down soon! You've got lots of interesting projects going so at least some stress relief is at hand(?).

Plans? They're OK, as long as you plan to change them. ;)

Your starts look fun, and I'm in love with Nespresso Arpeggio, which has great splotches.

the new silks are gorgeous. You'll find that Vikki's threads are addicive. As for coverage, if you want to stitch on 32ct with a single strand, you really need to use premium instead of regular floss. I like single strand stitching myself, so I've been buying a lot of 40ct fabrics lately - regular floss looks great on it.
Happy Stitching!

Ha die An, long time no see!!!

kus!

I've yet to use much of my HDF fibers because I don't like the coverage I've gotten on 36-ct. So I can imagine that you might have pause with 32-ct. (I am picky about coverage I guess.) I'm planning on trying them with some 40-ct fabric and see how it goes. I love Mrs Pearson- such a great design and will go with all your funky ladies!

Stitching without a plan is the only way to go, IMHO. Whenever I start thinking 'how will I finish this' or something along those lines ... uh-oh. It all turns to drudgery. Thus my attempt to get a really massive finishing pile. I'll deal with then. LOL.

Our kitty is still living down the street, but I dragged him home again last night. Actually, he was very agreeable to it, as he got lots of cuddling and petting and was treated by the kids like a returning hero. But after soaking up our love for awhile, he headed toward the door again.

I love ALL your ongoing projects. Enjoy the snot out of them. LOL!!

Please could you tell me the name of Kathy's Tombstone Angel chart, I thought I had them all, but I don't recognise this one. Thanks.

Plan A sounds great after all, lol.
I agree, CHS conversions to DMC aren't always very satisfying. So I usually chnage them after my own taste (or the picture on the chart).
Enjoy your new projects and the silks, they are beautiful.

I love that angel, and how you stained the linen!

I'm sure your PS BAP will be gorgeous even without a plan, lol.

What is this word, "plan"? It sounds somewhat scary and intimidating, methinks ;)

Love your WIPs, especially the tombie angel - I'd also love to know the design details of that one :)

I do find that HDF can be a little thinner than other brands of silk. I think the single strand coverage is OK, but it's your piece, so do what you feel happiest with.

Yep, plans, like a girls mind, are meant to be changed! Love your new starts. The rivalry will settle down soon, I'm sure.

OOh, I know what you mean about that coat and peacocks on Noah. I hated stitching them. That coat - aaaagh! But, stick with it - it moves right along after that!

I'm in favor of not planning. And what you have not planned is so far quite beautiful!

Hey, my only plan was to sit by my computer and watch you COMPLETE the Prairie Schooler project. How you do that is your choice . . .

Say hi to Noah when he emerges from his dark corner.

Dear An, I think everyone's plan is different, you just plan to stitch whatever, whenever! :P I love your Ladies and think it's awesome to add another one. Pelle is a very sweet and loving child who knows where his love comes from. Of course he doesn't want a stranger coming alont to take "his" favorite spot away!! Making Pantie aware of Pelle time is your best bet...my first husband used to say, "The cat can adjust to ME, not the other way around!!" LOL

Hey, us girls without plans should stick together! Maybe it will catch on :) That's the only way I go too - whatever works at the time is what I do :)

Wise words from Deb!!

Love all your wonderful starts and adore those lovely silks. My goodness girl - who needs a plan when there are so many beauties calling your name.

Hope to see you soon.

So nice to see you stitching on the chart I gave you! You certainly caught me by surprise there when I came for a visit.
Looks like you are fairly all moved in! : )
I hate to think of the time when we move, if ever, well maybe to the nice retirement community and Brian wouldn't have to cut all this grass anymore. It place is loaded down with things too.
Good luck with everything!
