Guess what I've been doing?

Stitching!

Wife, into Thy Garden by The Goode Huswife

After a good deal of philosophising, I now realise what was keeping me from my stitching (apart from poor eyesight, a problem which, I am happy to report, has now been solved): gifts!

I owe some people gifts. You know who you are. Every single stitch I do NOT put into these gifts leaves me with such a feeling of guilt that it has put me off stitching altogether. You see, every time I work on said gifts, something goes wrong: the finishing sucks, my sewing machine spontaneously combusts (and, quite frankly, if I were my sewing machine, I'd lose the will to live too, so I don't blame it for giving up the ghost), Pelle falls ill or my translations get lost in the great big trashcan that is cyberspace. You know, the general conspiracy of things. You would not BELIEVE how often I think about the people that are waiting for my gifts. Really, the number of hours you have been in my thoughts are a gift in themselves - and should have been spent on stitching and finishing, rather than thinking about stitching and finishing.

Anyway. I've decided to give myself a firm kick in the behind and stitch and/or finish all of them (that includes a little something for you, Giovanna, just so you know you haven't been forgotten either). And as a reward for a job (not yet) well done, I allowed myself to work on that gorgeous sampler by The Goode Huswife you see above. I'm stitching again. Yay and hooray!

Yours stitching busily,
Annemarie.

Glad you're back to stitching. Sometimes the guilt over obligations gets to one. I love your new project -- so pretty! Glad you can see again too. :D

Yay for the stitching, and a particularly nice project it is. I'm betting the gifty people understand.

Yay and hooray - happy stitching days are here again! I love how your sampler is looking already!

ps I envy the lucky people who will get your gifties as I know how wonderful your work is!

Yeah for the stitching part! I'm sure the gift-getters won't mind if you only keep thinking of them... :-)

Wow, it so sounds like you're reading from the book of my life on this one.

Sometimes I feel like I'm drowning in perfectionism and obligations I've put on my stitching. Seriously. I also TOTALLY always think about stitchy things that I really do owe people.

For example, I've been thinking about this little pin keepe I'm *going* to make for Edgar for...umn...2 years, is it? I've made it in my mind so many times, but I have yet to stitch it.

Beautiful work, glad to hear you're enjoying yourself. :D

I love the piece that you're starting. And good for you stitching again. I think that we all go through down time with our stitching. And I'm sure the gift receivers won't mind waiting.

Welcome back to Cross Stitch World Annemarie - hope your lovely Goode Huswife project goes well for you - certainly being able to see ought to go a long wait toward makingthat happen!

Love the GH charts, this one too and am so glad you kicked yourself LOL.
I do know the feeling about gifts, if it's for a good friend they don't mind:))

Woohoo - you are stitching again. I thought I'd lost you to the knitting world forever lol.
Lovely new start. Stitching should be fun and not an obligation. Forget about "I owe" and stitch for the joy of it!!!

What a good start. Your needles must be smoking! Keep up the good work, and I hope your mojo sticks around. Maybe you could alternate gifts and your sampler?

Good to see that that your mojo is back. But no wonder when you choose Goode Huswife project. They are all so motivating. And you made a great start on it.

Lovely stitching!

I know what you mean about being able to see. I've recently noticed trouble seeing to stitch. My temporary fix is to stitch without my glasses on (I'm horribly nearsighted) but I will be sure to ask the eye doctor next time I go!
