Excuse me while I slurp my coffee

[Let me take a sip before I begin]
In all honesty, I had hoped to concentrate on Rites of Spring in the past week, but I'm not really feeling the love anymore. More about that on regular Rites of Spring updating day.
Last Sunday Pelle and I had some very nice company in the shape of Barbara. It's so much fun having friends around, especially stitchy friends, and especially old stitchy friends and we really wanted to stitch together, but of course we didn't. We were way too busy catching up and walking in the forest and spending time with Pelle:

[Sorry... just need to get some more coffee]

We had a very lovely time, and Barbara even started Noah's Stocking. I did all of my Noah stitching today:

I really like how Noah's turning out. He looks so lifelike don't you think? It doesn't often happen that a person I stitch has the same hair colour as I do, but this Noah does. DMC 422, in case you were wondering. I thought that was rather funny.

I know the SAL doesn't officially start until April 16th, but that's just a general guideline, as is the whole idea of this particular SAL.. There isn't going to be a special blog (at least, I won't be starting one), no special rules. If you can't make it, don't worry, just post the next week. You can stitch as much or as little as you want. You can stitch any CHS Stocking you want. This SAL is just meant to inspire, stimulate and encourage each other.

[Aaaaaah. Just enjoying my coffee]

Thank you for the enormous amount of comments you left on my last post! I don't think I ever got as many! You can still add your comments, mind you. You have until Thursday morning to add your name to the Nobody Loves Me Sisterhood list! Please do so by leaving a comment on my previous post. If you feel so inclined.

[Yum. Coffee never tasted this good]

Thanks also for your continued worrying about our health. Pelle has fallen victim to the chicken pox. Poor dear walks around like a tiny Stan Laurel all day, scratching the top of his head and pulling funny faces. He's doing pretty well considering. As for worrying about me...

[excuse me while I have another cup of java]

...although I do feel better, the doctors have finally joined you in your worries and decided they need to do an emergency ultrasound tomorrow. I add the word 'emergency' here not because I want to concern you even more, but to explain that emergency ultrasounds are done in the afternoons rather than in the mornings - meaning that I cannot eat anything until the ultrasound is done (which should be around 4.30 pm). Let me repeat that and then, please take a moment to fully digest (pun intended) what that means. It means no food. Until 4.30 pm. I joked with the lady at the radiology department that - thank heavens - there's always coffee to keep me afloat. She looked at me warily and shook her head. 'No coffee?' said I, with a sense of impending doom. She shook her head again. 'Tea?' Nuh-uh. 'Water, then?' Nope. She said I was allowed to brush my teeth as often as I wanted throughout the day. Well, unless some friendly druggist can point me in the direction of coffee-flavoured toothpaste tomorrow, I can't see how brushing my teeth is supposed to alleviate my misery, but there you go. Think of me when you have your morning coffee, girls. I'm off to have another cup before I go to sleep.

Yours caffeinatedly,

Annemarie.

How long will you have to wait for the results, Annemarie? I suspect you told me, but it's flown right out of my head. How unusual. LOL.

I had such a great time with you guys on Sunday. I'd never have guessed that Pelle was coming down with anything - he was so cheery and sweet. :D I hope he's not feeling too badly. I'm totally cracking up over your comparison to Stan Laurel, though!

I did a wee bit on Noah, but have shifted back to Spring Cookies, which I feel sort of honor-bound to have finished in time for Easter. For Easter this year. :0

Oh Annemarie! I can't imagine not being able to eat or drink until late afternoon. I hope everything goes well - will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Looking forward to the stocking SAL - I shall be pulling out Quaker Stocking for sure.

Okay, I hope you read this *after* the check, LOL! I had a CT last year same time... didn't give any thought to the problem... but by 3 pm I was *starving*!! But then they kept feeding me with the "constrast" (?) fluid repeteadly for over half an hour which was even more yucky! Crossing fingers for your result... I hope Pelle feels well very soon!

I will certainly keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you go to your ultrasound tomorrow...heaven's I hope it all turns out ok!

Sorry to hear of Pelle and the pox..oh my...I remember my chicken pox...I had them everywhere. I mean every . where .

Noah is lifelike and the more I hear talk about him, the more I want to start him. eghad...I've got so many things going...I can't start one more!

Best of luck tomorrow! Why do I have visions of you brushing your teeth every 20 minutes or so?!

Love the pic of Barbara & Pelle! It's so nice to put a face to the name. I hope Pelle's case of the chicken pox isn't too severe.

I love love love your Nobody Loves Me! Super cute. I can't wait to see it & the other pieces back from the framers. Love your start on Noah, too!

Yikes that is terrible that you cannot even drink, you would think they would schedule all fasting ultrasounds for the morning! I hope it all goes well and I will be thinking of you and Pelle again. Poor little man being super itchy, I remember them well !
Take care and make the most of that last for a while coffee x

Oh Annemarie I am so sorry that Pelle isn't feeling well and hope he feels better really soon. I do feel for you tomorrow - I can go without food no problem at all but I need my coffee badly. Unless I have some milk in it I have limited myself to one a day because I drink it black and it was making my teeth go a really yucky brown color. I do hope you feel better soon and let us know the result of the scan as soon as you do. I had to have one last week and my liver was fine but they found I had gallstones. What can you do about it I asked the doctor and he replied "well we could give you a really big operation or we could ignore them." I prompted for how about we ignore them - I'm really good at doing that. Lots and Lots of Love and sympathy Patti xxx

Hi Annemarie, I loved seeing the photo of you and Pelle that Barbara took. A visit with old stitchy friends is a wonderful thing.

Good luck with the scan. While you are hungry I'm sure that'll feed your creative juices to write something funny. (did that make sense?) I keep sending you and Pelle happy thoughts. take care.

Hope that scan goes well for you hon. Boy, am I glad I'm not the lady in the reception room - Annemarie with no coffee till late afternoon.Bet you can suck it up though. I hope they have intervenous coffee after you are done.
I am glad you enjoyed your coffee today.
Poor Pelle, now the chicken pox!!! If it is not one thing after another!. I hope he has a very mild case and it is over quickly.

I enjoyed the sweet pictures of you and Pella on Barbara's blog and now delight in this one with her and darling Pelle on yours! Lovely that you all had a smashing good time. It's 10PM here and I shouldn't make a pot of coffee this late BUT sure does smell good in theory. LOL

Good wishes coming your way,
Tanya

I will keep you in my prayers and do hope you get the results quickly.

What a very long wait you have ahead of you, my friend! Hope it flies by. Perhaps you could dedicate yourself to stitching Mrs. Slocombe as a distraction?? (Hope the test goes well!)

And Pelle!! Chicken pox?? Oh, dear. More get-well wishes are heading your way . . .

By the way, I don't believe I've ever thought about what color my hair is in DMC terms. Some people see it as black (310), but it's definitely dark brown, so I'll go with 3371. Of course, to account for the variation, there's always WDW Swampwater, but it's missing the random strands of gray.

Bummer about the afternoon ultrasound. I can sympathize as when I had that breast biopsy I went from 10 pm the night before to about 5 the next evening without water or food. If you know me, it was torture as I get post nasal drip at times. There's a product called Oasis (like a mouthwash) that I brought with me and they said I could use, but after I got intravenous that helped, a wee bit. I had Coke in the recovery room which tasted like nectar from the heavens!
Thanks for posting a photo of dear Barbara. She tends to hide from us a bit, I don't know why.
And I say this all the time-and this too shall pass. Thinking about you and hoping for the best.

OMG, no eating or drinking till 4.30pm? That's almost criminal. I'd say, go straight to the coffee machine once you're done. OR even better, bring your own coffee in a thermos and the minute they release you, go ahead. That should teach them a lesson :).
I know, I know, it's all for your own best, but still. I'll be thinking of you today Annemarie. Hang in there.
On the positive side, I'm sure your teeth will be the most shiny of the Netherlands today.

Rowyn said...

I hope I never have to wait until after 4.30 pm to have food and drink... I reckon I'd be really cranky by about 8am!! lol

I hope it all goes well for you, and that Pelle makes a quick recovery from his chickenpox.

I'm looking forward to seeing your Noah's stocking progress.

Stephanie said...

OMG no coffee. I really feel for you! Hopefully the ultrasound goes well this afternoon - that will make the caffeine restriction much more bearable.

What a lovely day spent with Barbara :) Noah looks a bit like Santa to me! Maybe I associate all woolly beards with Christmas?

Hoping Pelle is soon much better - at least he's got the chickenpox out of the way early (looking for the silver lining here?)

Ooooops, I feel so bad, having just finished my morning coffee. Pretty poor "office" coffee though, in an environment-unfriendly plastic cup.
Look, I am sure you'll make it. Brushing your teeth has its advantages : you don't feel like coffee when you have this minty taste in your mouth... Hence the recommendation.
Anyways, we'll be looking forward to hearing your health bulletin. Poor Pelle seems to be catching all what can be caught -
Courage !
Valérie

Itchy little pair aren't you!? Are you soaking Pelle in calamine lotion??? Pink spots are such fun! :] I refuse to think they'll find anything out of place with your ultrasound...it's just a coffee bean gone out of whack, An. You've got to slow down on that Java. I'm sending love and hugs, and lots of prayers your way. Deb

Wishing you lots of luck for your ultrasound today and sending lots of positive thoughts.

Aww bless Pelle. So sorry to hear he has chicken pox but it's so much better to get them young unlike me as I was 31 when I had them! Lol! Lovely photo of him and Barbara.

Noah's Stocking is lovely:)

Karoline said...

{{{{Anne-Marie}}}} I hope the ultrasound goes well and that the Chicken Pox is over quickly.

Nothing all day? No tea or coffee sounds a bit extreme but then im not a medic! Good luck!
Glad you had a nice time with Barbara. Love the Noah stocking, he does have a nice face :)

Just found this post and realized that you're fasting right now - I'd be completely bonkers by now... I'll be thinking of you later on, and hope that all goes well. Glad you had a nice time on Sunday - what a lovely picture of you and Pelle on Barbara's blog! And great start to your stocking.

What a lovely picture of Barbara and Pelle. Looks like you two had a fun day. Wish I lived a little closer lol. Oh dear - nil by mouth hey? Bummer! At least you will get seen and hopefully sorted out though and afterwards you can treat yourself. Thinking of you. xx

As a person who regularly has to fast for procedures much worse than an ultrasound, I'll tell you, You Can Do It! Tomorrow you'll be swooning around making a list of all the foods you want to eat, but when the time comes you won't gorge yourself no matter what. (The key is not to run around too much if you can help it. I recommend lazing about on the couch, if you can get your son to cooperate!) I hope they find out what's causing your health problems. Because if you have to fast, you should learn something in the end. Cheers!

I will be thinking of you and hope your test doesn't give any unwanted results. (I will also have two cups of coffee for you!)

Barbara looks like such a fun person. Glad you got to spend time together, and I hope Pelle gets over the itchies soon.

Looking forward to your Noah progress. He has a lovely face and beard, and I like the bee too.

Hugs en groetjes ~
Heidi

Thinking of you and hoping that everything goes well. And I think the radiology department must be into torture...no food or drink till 4:30!!!

Deb said...

Best of luck to you! I can't even imagine having nothing to eat or drink in that time. I love your Noah a lot. His face is very realistic. My friend stitched this a while ago and told myself someday I would do it too. Will love seeing your progress.

Fingers crossed here about your ultrasound, which I KNOW will have very good results. Then you should go get a cheese steak sub (or whatever the equivalent there may be) or whatever else your favorite food might be. Poor Poxy Pelle!

Margaret said...

Hope all went well today and you are now once again getting your daily caffeine quota. When will you hear the results?

How fun that Barbara visited you on Sunday. It is always good to spend time (stitching or not) with good friends. What an adorable picture of Barbara & Pelle.

hugs, Margaret

Hope Pelle's itchy pox are soon history.

I love Noah!!!

I'm not sure of the time conversion, but it must be close to the appointed time of your ultrasound by now. I hope the results are good, and that you were able to get through the day leading up to it without a screaming caffeine withdrawal headache! Had to LOL at the comment about another cup before going to sleep. When my kids were younger, I drank coffee from waking to bedtime and never had any trouble sleeping. I weaned myself off of coffee a while back because I developed arrhythmia, so now one cup during the day will keep me awake until all hours on those occasions when I just can't resist the cravings. :)

Sharon said...

That is a long time to torture someone without food or in your case coffee! I hope all goes well and I am glad to hear you are better. Poor Pelle-the chickenpox? I tell you when it rains it pours! Hope that will be gone soon.

I told Barbara on her blog that the picture of you and Pelle was delightful to see. Well Pelle and Barbara are just as delightful too. It is wonderful to get together with friends and even better when they stitch too-LOL

Melissa said...

Good luck to you on your ultrasound tomorrow. I hope the results are returned quickly and that any problem found is just minor.

I shudder to think of not eating/drinking for that long, but just envision how wonderful your first loooong slurp is going to taste. Positive thoughts are going out for you...and for poor blotchy, itchy Pelle!

My hair is along the 420-line, but then again, my colour comes out of a box!

Katrina said...

Lots of good thoughts and prayers. I hope the doctors can figure out what is going on so they can treat it and you can feel better. Looks like you had a nice visit with Barbara :-).

Such a nice picture of Barabra and Pelle. I'm sorry that he doesn't feel well and hope thta the chicken pox will go away rather fast.

Now the ultrasound is done and I hope you'll get the results as fast as possible. I'll keep my fingers crossed and be thinking of you.
